Markku completed his Master of Laws degree at the University of Helsinki in 1990 and received his Varatuomari (“trained on the bench”) title from the Eastern Finland Court of Appeal in 1992. He has been a member of the Finnish Bar Association since 1996. In 2004 he completed the degree of Licentiate in Economic Sciences at the Lappeenranta University of Technology.

Savolainen has worked in our firm as a lawyer since 1996 and as a partner since 2005. His previous places of work as a lawyer included Helsingin Lakimiesyhtymä Oy Ltd in Helsinki and Keski-Suomen Luottotieto Oy Ltd in Jyväskylä.

Savolainen taught, among other courses, company law, insolvency law, and contract law at the Law School of the University of Joensuu from 2003 to 2006. He served as permanent expert of the working group appointed by the Ministry of Justice to clarify the issues involved in amending the Restructuring of Enterprises Act in 2005-2006 and as Chair of the Finnish Bar Association’s expert group in insolvency law in 2010-2013.
